Lacquered stamps
The term lacquer originates from the Portuguese word for 'lac', a type of resin excreted from certain insects. Lacquer is a clear or coloured varnish that dries by solvent evaporation and often a curing process as well that produces a hard, durable finish, in any sheen level from ultra matte to high gloss. A printing product can, by application of a varnish or a lacquer on the printed surface, get protection or a special brightness. The lacquer can be applied overall or just on spots of the surface.
